Technical assistance to the South African National Treasury on implementing the renewable energy procurement programme

Ea Energy Analyses is providing assistance to the South African government on developing a regulatory framework that promotes investments from IPP’s in renewable energy. This entails providing technical assistance at all levels viz. policy, regulation and governance as well as assisting in the procurement process.


The technical assistance includes reviewing the regulatory environment and proposing changes that will remove ambiguity and discriminatory practice, reviewing options for establishing an Independent Systems Operator, developing project documentation including power purchase agreements, transmission connection agreements, assisting in the procurement of RE projects through a request for proposals, undertaking a review of the Integrated Resource Plan and coordinating relations between government entities and electricity utilities.

 

Ea Energy Analyses has been providing assistance to the National Treasury since October 2010. The contract runs to March 2012.
