In 2015, Ea Energy Analyses developed a tool for estimating levelized cost of energy (LCoE) in collaboration with the Danish Energy Agency. The tool calculates the levelized cost of energy for several technologies on a comparable basis, including externalities such as environmental cost and system related costs. The calculator is therefore a strong tool for simple communication and analysis of a wide range of technology options, and it has been further developed and improved since. See post on the DEA website.
In this project, Ea Energy Analyses customised the LCoE Calculator for the modelling and analysis work undertaken at the China National Renewable Energy Centre (CNREC). The tool provides a flexible platform that can collect the different assumptions from CNREC’s work on technology data, renewable energy resource qualities, fuel prices, etc. and thereby enable LCoE analyses based on the same central assumptions across CNRECs different work streams.
