Ea Energy Analyses continued the work done in previous projects to strengthen capacity within the Pakistani energy authorities for long-term energy planning with variable renewable energy (VRE).
The focus of the program was to help the local authorities to integrate transmission capacity in their power system planning. Balmorel was used as a benchmarking tool to Pakistan Indicative Generation Capacity Expansion Plan (IGCEP), and to further develop a co-optimization of the generation and transmission expansion plan.
Furthermore, long term energy planning continued to be part of the program. The focus on this part of the project was in expanding the technology catalogue and discussing possible flexibility measures when looking to the energy system towards 2050. Ea Energy Analyses assisted with power system modelling with Balmorel.
The project ran from January to December 2024.
