Under the Danish Energy Transition Initiative (DETI), this assignment supports implementation of Pakistan’s alternative and renewable energy policy and the broader green transition agenda agreed between Pakistan and Denmark.
The work responds to requests from the Ministry of Energy and key energy institutions including NEPRA, NTDC, NPCC, NEECA, PPIB and CPPA. The 2025 phase combines government-to-government cooperation, technical assistance and capacity development to strengthen long-term energy planning, improve integration of variable renewable energy in the power system, and advance energy efficiency in industry.
Activities include Balmorel-based modelling and scenario work for medium- and long-term planning, system analysis of transmission constraints and flexibility options, support to forecasting of wind and solar generation, review of tender materials for renewable projects, and assistance with voluntary agreement schemes for industrial energy efficiency. The programme also includes workshops, missions, virtual trainings and a study tour to Denmark.
The assignment contributes to more robust energy planning, stronger institutional capacity and better conditions for scaling renewable energy while maintaining security of supply and cost efficiency.
