Wastewater heat pumps in Aarhus

Denmark | July 2019 - January 2020

In the district heating sector, electrically powered heat pumps are expected to play a significant role in the coming decades. The economy of heat pump solutions has improved significantly in recent years, due to a number of changes in regulation and framework conditions. Previously, back in 2009-2010, Ea Energy Analyses performed an analysis of technical and economic perspectives for heat pumps in connection with using cleansed wastewater, and the water treatment plants at Marselisborg and Egå.

In this project, Ea Energy Analyses, in light of the latest developments in the energy sector, has updated the previous analyses and conclusions on the potential of wastewater heat pumps in Aarhus on behalf of Aarhus Vand. The project will form the basis for deciding on the implementation of heat pump projects as part of Aarhus Vand’s revised resource strategy.

The project ran from July 2019 to January 2020.
