In a news article by Danish business organisation Green Power Denmark on the recent deal between the EU and the USA on energy purchase, Ea partner Hans Henrik Lindboe is quoted on the successful expansion of green energy in the EU in the past few years. An analysis by Ea shows that in 2024, about 115 TWh of electricity from solar and wind energy were added, about 5% of the electricity usage. The expansion is expected to be at the same level in 2025, and it will add up to the same production as in 20 large nuclear plants.
The conclusion from Hans Henrik Lindboe is that the focus needs to be on keeping up this rapid expansion of renewable energy. In addition, it is important to have an electrification plan for the sectors that are still dependant on oil and gas. This will not only be beneficial for the climate, it will also strengthen the competitiveness of the industry in the EU.
