Ea Energy Analyses has extensive experience in using GIS to carry out analyses of energy infrastructure in both Denmark and several other countries internationally. Geographic information system software (GIS) can be used to map or model a range of different energy technologies and types of infrastructure.
In Denmark, Ea has aided Danish municipalities in mapping the potential for land-based wind turbines and solar plants, as well as roof-based solar panels. The analyses are carried out in close collaboration with the municipality and the planners working there, in order to adapt the analysis to local conditions and values. The result is the complete potential for production of renewable energy and a map of suitable placements for land-based wind turbines, solar plants, and roof-based solar panels. The analyses are often used to support the planning of RE plants, but also as input in the strategic energy and climate plans in the municipalities.
Ea has also assisted in finding suitable placements for heat productions plants, such as heat pumps, electric boilers, and heat storage for district heating systems.
Abroad, Ea has carried out analyses of renewable energy potentials and placement of renewable energy plants in several countries. The analyses are often paired with analyses by the energy system model Balmorel, which is used by Ea to do analyses and projections of energy systems all over the world.
