Think tank for sustainability in the construction sector

Denmark | April 2023 - November 2024

Main actors within the construction sector have started a joint think tank for actions to be taken in order to further sustainability and point the direction for a quick an efficient green transition. The action centre (named “Byggeriets Handletank” in Danish) has the Climate partnership for the Construction Sector as its starting point and will point to the main actions to set the course for the green transition.

DI Byggeri acts as coordinator together with partner organisation, and they wanted consultant support to ensure a strong energy and climate foundation for the work of the think tank. In collaboration with Round, Ea Energy Analyses has carried out energy and climate analyses, which comprised three work packages:

  • The first, which acted as preparation for a conference on the future of construction in June 2023, comprised mapping of the baseline for how building construction affects the climate, and a brief on the current and future policy changes in Denmark and the EU
  • The second work package continued the focus on baseline and mapped the possible technical actions to show the energy and carbon reduction potentials as well as the associated costs
  • The third work package featured Round in a more central role, where barriers and support to ensure the green transition for the construction sector were uncovered, with assistance from Ea. The result was suggestions for specific initiatives for both the sector itself and on a political level.

The project ran from April 2023 to November 2024.
