Vattenfall decided to close Ringhals unit 1 and 2 by 2025, earlier than previously planned. Instead, the shutdown of 1.5GW capacity occured in 2019 and 2020.
Ea Energy Analyses assessed the impact on electricity prices in Denmark for the Danish Energy Agency. The Balmorel model was used to analyse the electricity prices with and without Ringhals unit 1 and 2. The analyses described in detail which power plants would deliver the electricity instead of Ringhals.
