Integration of wind power in New Brunswick, Canada

Location | November 2007 - June 2008

In the past few years, expansion of wind power in Canada has been soaring. In the Eastern Canadian province New Brunswick, the system operator, NBSO, asked Ea Energy Analyses to assist in finding out how much wind power can be integrated into the electricity system and what is the best way to do it.

The project encompassed technical, economic as well as organisational assessments, including an evaluation of how the cooperation with the surrounding areas can be used most efficiently when integrating the wind power.

Visit from Canada

On 5-9 May 2008, a Canadian delegation from the province of New Brunswick visited Denmark. The delegation comprised representatives of the Department of Energy, the Transmission System Operator, the energy company, the energy sector as well as universities of New Brunswick. The aim of the visit was to study the Danish experience in developing, planning and integrating wind energy.
