Regional Energy Modelling in four Indonesian Provinces

Balmorel: Power system model | May 2019 - December 2019

Ea Energy Analyses has developed three Energy Outlook reports covering the Indonesian provinces of North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, South Kalimantan and Riau.

Each province is found to have a large potential for renewable energy, providing cost-efficient prospects for the development of a green energy system along with significant CO2 reductions.

The work is done as part of a Strategic Sector Cooperation between Denmark and Indonesia to help Indonesia increase the electrification rate and reduce its dependency on fossil fuels.

The final reports have been presented by Mr. Rasmus Prehn, Danish Minister for Development Cooperation, to the Indonesian Minister of Energy, Mr. Arifin Tasrif in a doorstep event in December 2019.
The project included two weeks training on energy system planning in Jakarta to more than 40 participants from various institutions (NEC, PLN, Dinas ESDM, Universities) in the different provinces.
