In May 2012 the City of Copenhagen presented a draft for a Climate Action Plan, whereby Copenhagen is expected to become the world’s first CO2-neutral capital by 2025. In this context, it has been discussed how municipal solid waste can be integrated in the future energy system.
The project provides an overview of the various technological options to gasify source separated organic municipal waste, their stage of development and use in foreign countries. The report provides an assessment of the future potential for the treatment of organic municipal waste in the City of Copenhagen.
