Forced operation of power generation plants

Denmark | September 2017 - March 2018

The Danish Electricity Supply Act gives Energinet the authority to order power plants to be ready for operation or in operation, to ensure the security of supply of the power system. In autumn 2017, Ea Energy Analyses conducted a project for the Danish Energy Agency on mapping of the use of forced operation of power generation facilities and an analysis of principles for settlement of payments for the forced operation.

The project included an analysis of experiences from other countries and interviews with the Danish stakeholders. The project gave input to the revision of the Electricity Supply Act, which was adopted in June 2018.

The project was carried out from September 2017 to March 2018.
