For Danish Industry, member organisation for Danish companies, Ea has carried out an analysis of the interaction between energy efficiency and the supply system, including how actions within energy efficiency, smart controls, and electrification can support the implementation of renewable energy towards 2030 and 2045.
In the project, unrealised potential for energy efficiency in the latest climate projection (KF23) from the Danish Energy Agency was also mapped. This was to get an overview of to which degree it will make sense to raise the initiative on energy savings and energy efficiency more than what is done in the climate projection, and what could be gained from this.
The analysis primarily focused on the technical and economic reduction potentials. Any policy measures that could be applied to fulfil the potential were therefore not a part of the analysis.
The project ran from February to October 2023.
