Short-term forecasting of energy balances in Ukraine

Energy end use, efficiency and demand response | September 2020 - January 2021

There are several factors that cause variability of electricity production by specific power plants in Ukraine. As these factors of uncertainty can occur systematically, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy’s staff needed to be able to update the forecasted electricity balance.

For this purpose, further improvement of the software and methodology already in use for short-term electricity balance was needed.

In this project, Ea Energy Analyses assisted in developing and validating software, modelling power generation to assess security of supply, and modelling wind and solar generation and its influence on the power system in Ukraine.

The project ran from September 2020 to the end of January 2021 and was carried out for the Danish Energy Agency as part of an ECPP framework.
