Danish-Ethiopian wind energy days

Denmark | February 2016 - May 2016

In collaboration with the Danish Energy Agency and relevant Danish stakeholders within wind energy, the Danish Embassy organised a Wind Energy Workshop in Ethiopia.

At the workshop, a number of Danish and international experts participated, as well as the officials from important Ethiopian stakeholders such as the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity (MoWIE), Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP), Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU), and Ethiopian Energy Authority.

The objective of the workshop was to discuss opportunities for wind energy in Ethiopia, and how wind energy can contribute to Ethiopia’s ambitious goal of reaching middle-income country status by 2025 with net-zero greenhouse gas emission growth.

The workshop addressed themes of diversified renewable energy production, financing, transmission and integration of renewable energy sources, with a particular focus on wind energy.

Ea Energy Analyses participated with a presentation by Mikael Togeby on the development of the Ethiopean electricity sector – in a regional perspective, which was based on the master plan for EAPP, but with a special focus on the Ethiopian part of the master plan.

The workshop was held on 13-14 April, 2016, in Addis Ababa.
