As a part of the Energy Partnership Programme between South Africa and Denmark, Ea Energy Analyses carried out Balmorel training for the Eskom modelling group.
The objective was to build capacity to analyse the South African power sector for integration of renewable energy and enhance cost effective and reliable security of supply. This was achieved using the Balmorel modelling tool.
The training consisted of 2 one-week training sessions in Johannesburg alongside several online workshops.
Following from the training, Ea has set up a benchmark Balmorel model together with Eskom that can be directly compared to Eskom’s Plexos model to achieve a benchmark.
The project ran from October 2021 to March 2023.
